The Loyalty of Animals
Posted by homefurever on May 16, 2009
It’s often been said that dogs are man’s best friend; they are well known for their steadfast loyalty to those who care for them. That loyalty tends to be magnified when talking about rescue animals because they are extra grateful for having been removed from their difficult circumstances and given a loving home, full bellies, and a safe place to play and sleep.
However, what’s not as often discussed is the loyalty of animals to each other. I’m sure many of us can share stories of animals who have helped to protect each other – or save each other. I have many such stories with my own animals over the years, including with my recently adopted ‘rescue babies’ Max and Riley (featured on our ‘Happy Endings’ page); where one of them was trapped in a building slowly starving, and the other wouldn’t leave him – and in fact brought rescuers to him. Personally, I’m very grateful for that deep loyalty among animals because now I have both dogs – as well as a “sister” rescue dog – and we all couldn’t be happier.
Animals have a strong sense of ‘family’ which was reinforced to me when I recently came across a video on the Internet which was posted by a television news team. Watch the video which portrays a loyalty that humans should aspire to, and if it touches your heart, please visit our ‘How You Can Help’ page so that wonderful animals such as those portrayed here can be rescued and enjoy the benefits of a warm, loving home that they so richly deserve.
