Hi, my name is Gretel (pronounced: gray- tul) and if I don’t say so myself, I am a simply grand German shepherd! I am a gorgeous, aprox. 1 ½ – 2 year old, pure- bred. And I’m happy to say I was recently adopted into a wonderful ‘fur-ever family’!

An animal rescue person found me on a freezing day last January, and a very kind foster family took me in and cared for me til I found my new family. I was quite skinny, and sadly, one of my eyes was badly damaged to the extent that it had to be removed.  No worries, that has not affected my regal, good looks or my awareness in the least. I am now a beautiful gal with a prosthetic eye who has learned to adapt to my situation.

As with many rescue dogs, my past remains a mystery, and since I cannot talk, I am unable to explain why I am quite shy until I get to know and trust people. However once I trust someone, I’m very loyal.  My foster people told my new family that I am an extremely intelligent, playful dog, who is very loving, loyal and protective. I am also a quick study and very polite. I am quite happy to lie quietly and patiently at my family’s feet. I do not dig, chew or jump fences. I am completely house-trained, and have learned all the basic commands. However, I’m pretty strong so HomeFur-ever made sure my new family has a lot of experience with dogs so they can teach me the best ways to use all my energy in lots of fun ways. I’m very excited cuz I bet there will be lots of treats involved!

Anyway, I just wanted to tell you about how wonderful HomeFur-ever was to me, and how they helped me find my new ‘fur-ever family’. They took really good care of me, and then they made sure that I would have a family that would love me the rest of my life. I’ve got to go now, I’ve got some treats and a warm bed waiting for me!
